Demolition begins on the DLRCDC's second rehab project at 605 E 16th St. This is a Craftsman style single family that was converted into a duplex at some point in time. The home has been vacant for many years and was ravished by fire some time ago. Much work will be required to restore this one.
Volunteers Pour out to help clean up an alley way on the 600 block between 16th & 17th St. in the Pettaway Neighborhood on Oct. 30th to celebrate the end of the month long Season of Service. Thank you to all who participated and helped in this endeavor.

Dean Jeff Shannon spoke at the AIA Lecture series on September 21st at the Arkansas Arts Center. The Dean spoke on the 2009/2010 Fay Jones School of Architecture Design Build project in partnership with the Downtown Little Rock Community Development Corporation. It was a packed room and was a very informative and unique peek into the processes that took place to make this project a success.
We are looking forward to the next home being designed by the University to be placed in the same neighborhood in Little Rock. If you are interested in following the progress of the current project, you can follow them on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fay-Jones-School-of-Architecture-Design-Build/148852205151516

Ben Muldrow with ARNETTMULDROW & Associates from Greenville, SC visited Little Rock today. Mr. Muldrow has worked with local preservationists in the past as well as the Department of Heritage. His firm developed the successful Arkansas Delta: Soil & Soul branding and marketing program and came out of his way from a visit to Mississippi to spend a day engaging the community. He, along with Beth Wiedower met with several city officials and organizations involved in downtown to help open discussions for branding & marketing opportunities for the city. The purpose is best described in a statement by Mr Muldrwo in an article he co-authored which stated "Every single day, citizens, visitors, workers, and tourists brand communities, whether rural or urban, based on their experience and interaction with the community and its assets. If the community does not brand and market itself, others will do it for them . . . and, perhaps, without the best intentions.
Thanks to Cheri Nichols and the Heart of the City Coalition and the Quapaw Quarter Association for helping to make this visit happen. For more information on ARNETTMULDROW & Associates, you can go to http://arnettmuldrow.com/

The DLRCDC completed it's first Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) home. The 1400 sq/ft, 2-story, 3 bed, 2-1/2 bath home with attached 2 car garage was completed in June. NACA provided the approved financing through Bank of America in conjunction with the HOME grant program through the city of Little Rock which was used to buy down the interest rate to 0.45% for 30 years making the monthly mortgage cost to the homeowner after taxes and insurance at approximately $650.
